Love Spread
A 3-card spread for clarity on relationships and the heart.
The Love Spread is a focused three-card reading for matters of the heart — whether about an existing relationship, a new connection, or your own capacity for love. The positions speak to you, the other person, and the shared field between you. It is a compassionate spread, not a predictive one: it asks what is alive in this bond right now, not what will happen next week.
The Positions
You
Your own energy and inner state in this relationship — what you are bringing, consciously or not.
The Other Person
The energy of the other person as they stand in relation to you — not who they are in the world, but who they are with you.
Between Us
The shared field — the relationship itself as a living thing, including its possibility and its obstacle.
How to Read the Love Spread
- 1
Centre on the connection
Bring the person or relationship to mind. Feel the quality of your bond — not the story of it, the felt sense. Hold that as you shuffle.
- 2
Shuffle until still
Shuffle the deck (22 Major Arcana for free readings, 78 for Premium) until your hands naturally pause. Cut once.
- 3
Draw three cards
Lay the top three cards left-to-right — You, The Other Person, Between Us. Leave them face-down for a breath before turning them.
- 4
Read each card slowly
Turn card one, sit with it. Turn card two, notice how it relates to card one. Turn card three and read all three as a single sentence.
- 5
Name what shifted
The spread is complete when something inside you has changed posture — a softening, a clarification, a choice point. If nothing shifted, sit longer before drawing again.
Love Spread — Common Questions
Can I do this spread about someone I just met?
Yes — and the cards will speak to the quality of the new connection more than to any long-term outcome. Read position 2 lightly; the other person's card is often more about first-meeting energy than deep character.
What if the cards are all negative?
Difficult cards in a love spread usually name an unspoken truth rather than predict doom. The Tower, the 3 of Swords, the 10 of Swords — these ask you to see clearly, not to walk away.
Should I read cards reversed?
If you are a beginner, read upright-only until you feel fluent. Reversed cards layer nuance but can paralyse a new reader. Intermediate readers should include reversals.
